The Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce, along with over 50 other South Carolina associations, have joined forces with the SC Chamber of Commerce to advocate for liability protections for employers in the next Phase 4 bill. On May 6, 2020, our "SC Coalition" sent a letter to the members of the South Carolina Federal Delegation, urging their support for legislation that will protect businesses as the state begins to reopen. Providing businesses with targeted and limited safe harbors during these difficult times is not the same as shielding companies from all liability. Legislative efforts should support liability protections that are appropriately tailored and limited to the present emergency and a reasonable period of recovery.
