The time is now for South Carolina state legislators to hear from you about supporting the First Responder Honor Act (H5080)! This bill will ensure health insurance benefits for the families of police, fire, and EMS personnel who die in the line of duty. Currently, these families can lose coverage in as little as 30 days. South Carolina is a state of patriots and grateful citizens! It’s not only our honor but our duty to support these families. Contact your state representatives to let them know you support the adoption of SC House bill H5080! Leading from the front takes many forms. Yesterday, 18 chiefs and sheriff's from across the Upstate and Midlands participated in our peer support training at the Rupe. Our communities are safer because of the decades of experience these leaders bring to their roles. Yet, their years of service have included the line-of-duty deaths of their peers and countless critical incidents that can't help but leave a mark. Their dedication to service is exceptional, but we can never forget their very real human needs. Through our First Responder Program, we're committed to ensuring our men and women in uniform have the resources needed to maintain their mental health while navigating their past and present service. Shoutout to Bob Gamble Counseling for designing and teaching this training! #firstresponders #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport #lawenforcement #firefighter Agencies represented: Seneca Police Department, Lake Cunningham Fire Department, City of Clemson Police Department, Casey Police Department, Oconee County Sheriff's Office, Pendleton Police Department, Irmo Police Department, Travelers Rest Police Department, Fountain Inn Police Department, Greer Police Department, Simpsonville Police Department, Greenville Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Greenville County Sheriff's Office, Mauldin Fire Department, Mauldin Police Department, West Union Police Department, Woodruff Police Department, Duncan Police Department, Belmont Fire Department, Anderson Police Department, Greenville Police Department Chris Cowan, Bobby Dale, Benjamin Ford, Patrick Fortenberry, Matt Hamby, Brian Horton, Hobart Lewis, Jeff Richardson, Satterfield Gregg, Anthony Segars, Jim Stewart, Howie Thompson

Currently, when a first responder dies in the line of duty in South Carolina, their surviving family can lose healthcare benefits in as little as 30 days. Can you imagine grieving your spouse who died serving the community and having to worry about healthcare coverage for your family? Our first responders provide vital services that impact our quality of life every day. The LEAST we can do is help care for their families when they pay the ultimate sacrifice. YOU can help impact change on this issue today. Here's how: - South Carolina House Bill H5080 was introduced this week to extend survivor healthcare benefits. Contact your state representative today and tell them you support this critical legislation. - Take a moment to watch the video below and share it with your network to help spread the word. Let's make 2024 the year South Carolina showed its unwavering gratitude for the service and sacrifices of our first responders! Thank you to Representatives Bobby Cox, Bruce Bannister, and Jason Elliott for your leadership in addressing this issue!
